Another Storm: Portugal get’s ready for Storm Marta
After some days of heavy rain and lightning in the cities closer to the coast, a new storm is forming in the Atlantic.
The storm Portugal is getting ready for is now called Marta and the North, Center and South will be both affected. Prepare yourself for stormy weather as Storm Marta approaches the country. Saturday and then Sunday should be days most affected by it. Tourists are advised to stay informed, as strong winds, heavy rain, and rough seas are expected in several regions.

Right now, Faro, Évora, Setúbal, Santarém, Beja, Lisboa, Leiria, Castelo Branco and Portalegre are under a yellow warning for rain during Saturday morning (which can become orange between a couple of hours). Braga, Castelo Branco, Viseu, Bragança Viana do Castelo, Vila Real, and Guarda will be under an orange warning for snow over the weekend. However, snow will only appear at high altitudes (around 800 or 1000 meters). All the districts along the coast will be on orange alert for rough seas.
If you’re traveling around Portugal, keep an eye on local weather updates, follow advice from authorities, and plan indoor activities as a backup.
It’s important to check if these alerts change: See IPMA website to check which regions have yellow and orange alerts.
Portugal’s charm will still be waiting once the skies clear. But be aware of the next storm: Nils.
