This Saturday, IPMA announced a warning for scattered showers, sometimes heavy, with hail and accompanied by strong gusts of wind. Also, conditions are conducive to scattered thunderstorms. The alert is active during the whole day of Saturday in the North of Portugal.

It is difficult to predict where lightning and rain may occur due to unstable conditions.

🟡Yellow Alert for Rain and Thunder affects the following districts:

  • Viana do Castelo
  • Braga
  • Porto
  • Aveiro
  • Viseu
  • Guarda
  • Vila Real
  • Bragança

What to do during a Thunderstorm Warning in Portugal

  • Keep away from water, trees, and metal objects, especially if you are outside.
  • Avoid unnecessary travel
  • Unplug electronic devices and avoid using wired appliances during lightning.
  • Use stairs instead of elevator
  • Follow official weather warnings

Update 2: Unstable weather with rain and lightning may continue on Sunday and Monday(especially in the following districts: Viana do Castelo, Braga, Porto, Vila Real, Viseu and Bragança.)
